Yes, if you are like me, you many be waiting until the last minute to do your holiday shopping. When I wanted to purchase a toy train table I was taken aback by the cost and low quality.
So I went home and designed one. Home Depot cut the wood for us to size. My son and I built the train table in 3 hours. It took me 1-hour to paint. We then purchsed a Maxim train set, which is just as much fun as the expensive name brands and 2/3rds the cost. Altogether the train set and table cost me 75% less than if I would have purchased them in the store.
Thinking that other people had the same $$$ challenges, I put the plans up on the net in a pdf format. 4 years later about 1500 people from around the world have enjoyed making something special for that little loved on in their family.
And the table is so sturdy, that although my grandchildren have outgrown the tyke trains, they now use the table for building K’Nex, Mindstorms and other educational toys.
